Purpose
The aim of this course is to produce an LUV operator that can demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attributes for all essential areas of “best practice” guidelines for LUV driving in the workplace.
This course enables the individual to drive an LUV effectively and safely over varied terrain. The trainee will also be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a driver of an LUV vehicle with emphasis on accident prevention.
Note: No licence is required if 100% of use is on private land with no public access. Where public land is to be accessed the correct licence and registration is required.

24553 Operate a light utility vehicle (LUV) on flat terrain the the workplace under close supervision
24556 Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of a light utility vehicle (LUV)
24558 Operate a light utility vehicle (LUV) on rolling terrain under close supervision
Duration:
1-2 days
Note: To book on the one-day course you are required to have experience and skills in relation to the outcomes listed above and in line with the NZQA unit standards.
Trainees that book on the one-day course will be required to provide evidence of experience in the form of logbooks, managers attestations and/or other verification. This evidence must be presented prior to the course or on the day of the course.
Learning style and assessment process:
- The course, by necessity, involves some theory learning in order to aid completion of the written assessments.
- Participants will be kept focused by active involvement in practical sessions interspersed during the course.
Where a trainee shows competency early on day two they are released to return to work while those requiring further assessment can receive the full attention of the course facilitator.

The course requires a level of fitness to demonstrate competency for the skill being trained.less
