Purpose
This course has been designed for people whose role requires operational and practical knowledge of New Zealand’s Co- Ordinated Incident Management (CIMS) framework.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate operational knowledge of:
- Interrelated functions of the CIMS model in an incident
- Control function responsibilities in an incident
- Incident Management Team (IMT) function manager roles in an incident
- The Action Plan process in an incident
NZQA Unit Standard
29553 (Level 4, 2 credits) Demonstrate operational knowledge of New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System functions and structure.

The on-line assessment is administered by Skills Organisation to ensure a consistent national standard.
You will have one month to fully complete the course (including the assessment). If you have not completed the course within this period, you will need to pay a new fee and enrol again.
