Purpose

This course is appropriate for people who use and apply agrichemicals e.g. on farms, orchards, vineyards, forests and/or industry where herbicides and pesticides are used. The successful trainees will be able to prepare to apply, and apply, agrichemicals using hand held equipment.

Applicators with a GROWSAFE Basic certificate should be operating under the supervision of someone with a GROWSAFE Standard (or higher) certificate.

At the successful completion of this course, trainees will be able to

• Apply agrichemicals in a safe, responsible and effective way with minimal adverse impact on human, environmental and animal health

• Become aware of your obligations under the various legislation that impact on the use of agrichemicals in New Zealand.

NOTE: Ideally trainees attending the Growsafe basic course should bring in one (1) application record such as a spray diary entry if they have conducted spraying in the past.
