Training Course

HASANZ have engaged with industry partners to offer a Level 6 training course for Health and Safety Professionals to provide grounding information on this specialised area.

The course will address the legislation governing the handling of Fumigants in New Zealand. It will address the nature of different Fumigants, their risks to handlers and environment and safe handling techniques. It provides tools to check, audit and certify handlers of Fumigants.

It will suit people who want to certify, audit or manage organisations, operations and handlers applying Fumigants for agricultural and biosecurity purposes, under covers, in containers and/or in fumigation cells.

 Applicants are expected to have good grounding in the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations and hold Unit Standard 31291 or equivalent.

The course is composed a face to face instructed component and an extramural self-directed assessment.

This will take applicants through the Training Guide, show them how to use the information in the Training Guide and demonstrate safe application of Fumigants.

Trainees will use the knowledge and tools provided to complete a Workbook, that will be sent to the trainer for marking within a month of the training.

HAZANZ have funded 8 places on this course. The first 8 applicants fees are funded. 

Later additional applicants will be charged $500 + GST for this course.

Please wear closed shoes to the training.

While tea and coffee will be provided trainees will need to provide their own lunch.
